Product Review: Hyalogic Scar Serum from Natural Healthy Concepts

On March 4, 2018, I started using Hyalogic Scar Serum on a scar that is from a burn several years ago. It was a really bad burn and left behind quite a line on my left hand. I was hoping to find a product to reduce the appearance of this burn on my hand. I have been applying this product to my scar every morning and night for nearly 8 weeks. These photos haven't been doctored at all. No filters or "cleaning up" done to either photo. It may be hard to tell but to me, the scar is lighter. The skin is softer and I can't feel the line as much on my skin. For older scars, like this one, the product may take 3-6 months to fully see results. I'm only at the two-month mark.

Hyalogic Scar Serum is a blend of ingredients that work to smooth, soften and reduce the appearance of scars. Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, and Panthenol (Vitamin B5) combine to manage scars and encourage healthy-looking and feeling skin. This formula is odorless and absorbs quickly into the skin. The scar serum bottle has a pump feature so you can quickly pump out a small amount onto your fingertip or the area you are applying it to and rub in it. Because of the small bottle, it is easy to find space on your counter and keep it accessible for use twice a day.

I can definitely notice a difference in that particular spot on my skin and am now wondering if I should be applying the serum to the whole top of my hand rather than just the spot of the scar! I will continue to use the product for the next few months, with the expectation for my scar to reduce in appearance even more.

Product Review: Derma-E Scar Gel from Natural Healthy Concepts

I tend to accidentally burn myself whether I am cooking or doing my hair. I have several scars on each hand and I can tell you exactly where each of them came from... an oven rack, the curling iron, the straightener, a baking sheet, etc. A few of them are more noticeable than others and I wouldn't mind finding a way to reduce their appearance. At the end of February, I burned my pinky finger on an oven rack. I had quite a scab that didn't clear up as fast as I would have liked.

A couple weeks after the burn - March 1, 2018

I began using DERMA-E Scar Gel on March 1, twice a day. This scar gel is paraben free and naturally helps reduce the appearance of scars, burns, and stretch marks. The formula of herbal ingredients helps break down scar tissue to encourage new skin growth. Click HERE to see the list of ingredients. 

For new burns, it recommends applying the product twice daily for eight weeks, so I'm only about five weeks into the application process. But the burn has definitely healed and the skin is clearly in the process of new growth. There is no longer a scab and the skin surface is smooth. The scar gel comes in a 2oz container. The gel is clear and has a small order much like a natural lotion. I scoop out a pea-sized amount and apply it to my skin during my morning and bedtime routines. It absorbs quickly into the skin and isn't greasy or sticky. Often after a burn, there will be an indentation for a long time and then a scar. I really think this scar gel is helping to avoid that part of the process. I can not feel any dent in the skin where the burn was. My skin is smooth and soft and the dark, purplish spot is reducing in color every day.

I am thrilled with this skincare product and wish I would have had it to use on previous burns. It is easy to apply and since you use such a small amount, this product will last for a long time. Since you do have to scoop out the product, I recommend using a swab to get the product out or make sure your finger is clean to not contaminate the product.

It took nearly ten minutes before it really started drying out, which was fine with me because I don't like masks that get really dry and tight and itchy. This one never felt that way and was comfortable to wear, even though I'm sure I looked funny. After I removed it, my face felt really smooth and refreshed.  The hint of coconut was a pleasant scent. 

I am thrilled with the CoconutClay Facial Quenching Masque.

The masque goes on smoothly and a little goes a long way. The directions say you can apply it 2-3 times a week, but even once a week would make a big difference in your skin care routine. Product Review: Live Ultimate Facial Sunscreen

Since I live in Iowa and don't get to see much sun in the winter, I decided to wait and try out this product during our Christmas break trip to Florida. I loved how the product came out like a mousse and the tint was the right tone for my skin. I expected this product to be light since the website's description of the product states that it is non-oily, non-greasy, and non-sticky. Unfortunately, as soon as I started to apply the product to my face, it became thicker and heavy. I have oily skin and this product was quite greasy and sticky on my face. I stuck with it and used it every day on my face whether we were outside in the sun or not. I continued to feel like my skin was greasy and didn't like how the makeup looked on my face with this underneath. It did protect my skin from the sun as I didn't have any burns on my face after spending several hours in the sun. 

After we returned home, I used it again in our cold, dry weather just to see if it was the humidity that was causing the product to feel so greasy. But, again, it was too heavy and greasy for me. This just isn't the product for my skin.

For consumers that are concerned about using safe, vegan products, this is something that you may want to try. At $48 for a 1.7 oz bottle, it is an average price compared to other high-quality facial products. It isn't just a sunscreen but also an anti-aging product that repairs damaged skin while providing sun protection.

Product Review: Trusted Health Products ReliefMD

Trusted Health Products sent me a bottle of ReliefMD to try.  I found the idea of an oil to help in the relief of sore muscles, headaches, and mosquito bites intriguing and was anxious to try it out. I was happy with another Trusted Health Product that I have tried. To see my review of that product, click HERE. According to the website, ReliefMD uses a revolutionary new approach to extract living nutrients from plants and nuts in order to deliver a 100% pure formula of botanical oils (from nature herself) to feed our body the nutrients it wants. It states right on the bottle that ReliefMD is a massage in a bottle and I think that is a perfect description of it.

I wasn't surprised that the ingredients in ReliefMD included several types of mint. I have been familiar with using Peppermint Oil to combat headaches.  ReliefMD includes Peppermint, Wintergreen, and Spearmint as well as almond, olive, eucalyptus, and camphor oils. Once you apply the oil to the area, you will immediately start to feel it working and smell the minty odor. I applied a few drops to my fingertips and then massaged the area that was causing me pain. I am prone to migraines and headaches and have had several in the last couple months to give ReliefMD several opportunities for product testing.  I have been very pleased with the product and most of the time, it was enough to handle my headache without either an over-the-counter medication or my prescription medication. Sometimes it took the beginning edge off, but I still needed the medication for long-term relief. I was surprised by how strong the odor was as my husband could smell it when he walked in the room. However, I didn't find the scent offensive, but it was strong.

 I also frequently have pain in my hand and fingers due to the beginning stages of arthritis. ReliefMD offered some much needed "relief" in my pain and stiffness.  I will caution you that if you have this on your hands or fingers, be very careful not to rub your eyes as they will burn. 

If you are looking for a homeopathic way to treat sore muscles, headaches and swollen joints I would recommend trying this product. It also states it can help with mosquito bites and sunburns, but since I tried this product during the winter, I haven't had the opportunity to test those out. But, I do look forward to it easing the itching of mosquito bites this summer.

Product Review: Spa's Premium Dead Sea Mud Mask

I was offered the opportunity to try Spa's Premium Dead Sea Mud Mask.

I love trying new beauty products and was interested in the skincare benefits of this product. I appreciated that it is made with all natural ingredients including Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Juice, and Sunflower Oil, to name a few.  It offers anti-aging benefits and a natural moisturizer to reinvigorate your skin.

After having FOUR blemishes on my face in one day, I decided it was a good time to try out this mask.  I haven't had four zits since my teen years. Plus, I had an entire day at home, which meant I wasn't in a hurry to get make-up on and get out the door. I had a makeup free day ahead of me so felt it was the perfect time to try out the mask.

I applied the mask evenly across my face with my fingers. The mask was cool and reminded me of the consistency of pudding.  I applied it lightly, but can be applied thicker if you prefer.

It was wet and slimy, but dried quickly.

After it dried, it turned into a hard mask that made your face feel extremely tight.

You are to leave it on for 15-20 minutes. 

 I took it off at 15 minutes by removing with a warm wash cloth. 

 It wiped off easily.  

I then applied my usual moisturizer (Mary Kay Time Wise Moisturizer).

My face feels smoother and had a glow when I removed the mask. But, I will say, I couldn't wait to get the mask off. I didn't care for that tight feeling on my face. But, for 15 minutes, it is manageable.

You could use this on dry elbows, cracked heels, or other problem areas.
