For the Love of Make-Up

I LOVE make-up.  I have ever since I was little.  I was always jealous of my friends who had moms that wore make-up because my mom never did.  She only wore lipstick.  So, I remember trying on her lipsticks, but never got to play in any other make-up.  Then in Jr. High, since I had a LONG bus ride every morning, I would put make-up on while on the way to school and then rub it off on the ride back home.  I was desperate to wear make-up.  As an adult, I would love to experiment with different colors and brands.  I eventually came to love Mary Kay and have pretty much used that exclusively for many years.  I even became a consultant about 11 years ago and still am one.

My daughter has gotten my bug and loves make-up as well.  She can frequently be found applying some during her play time or in my bathroom watching me put mine on.  So, when I found out I could test new products every month, I was super excited.  I know they aren't Mary Kay products, but they are still fun to try!

I really love this fresh, Sugar Rose' Tinted Lip Treatment with SPF 15. It gives me ever the slightest tint to my lips and the formula is smooth and not waxy or sticky. It is available at Sephora for $22.50 which would be a little steep in my book. But, I do really like it.

These hair ties are snag free and come in a variety of colors.  I got the brownish orange color.  But, I have to say these really don't work well in my hair.  I have very fine hair and even though it is long, I couldn't get the twistband tight enough to hold my hair back tight enough.  So, it would work if I was just around the house and needed my hair controlled, but outside, especially on a windy day (like most of them around here lately), it just wouldn't work. You can get an 8-pack of the Twistbands for $16.00 on their website.

Everyone is talking about this Korean brand’s BB cream. A primer, moisturizer, foundation, and sunscreen, it’s our one-stop-shop to perfect skin. It’s filled with hydrating ingredients like aloe vera, plus broad-spectrum sunscreen to keep our complexions protected against the summer sun

I did really like this light, easy to apply moisturizer.  It had just the slightest tint, but I did have to use about a dime size amount to get it to cover, which is more than I use with my regular Mary Kay moisturizer.  This moisturizer is $34.00 for 1.7 oz. on the Sephora site.  Again this is a little on the pricey end for me.  I currently use Mary Kay Time Wise Moisturizer with sunscreen for $22.00  for a 3 oz size and love it.

This BVLGARI fragrance is called Omnia Crystalline and for a 1.3 oz Eau de Toilette Spray retails for $64.00 at SEPHORA.  The notes in this fragrance are Bamboo, Nashi Pear, Lotus Flower, and Balsa Wood.  It is a bit different from what I usually wear.  I am usually a floral or citrus kind of gal.  I think the woodsy part is what turned me off a bit.  But, I will say the bottle design is awesome.  It is a circular bottle that when opened reveals two interlocking rings.

This is a soy-based cleanser to clean your make-up brushes and sponges.  Because it is soy-based it has natural moisturizing properties and will dissolve any dirt and debris trapped in your brushes and sponges.
I am definitely guilty of not washing out my brushes often enough.  When I do wash them out, I usually just use my usual foaming hand soap.  This is more of a gel-based cleanser so it is thicker and you can see all the makeup coming out of the brushes.  It had kind-of a strong odor while using it, but I didn't notice it on the brushes after they were dry.  The brushes were very soft the next time I used them.  This  product retails for $17.50 for a 6 oz bottle, so at that price I think I will continue to use my foaming hand soap.
Tip:  When you do wash your brushes out, make sure you lay them flat to dry. I usually lay mine across my sink rim with the brush end hanging over the sink.

So, for me, the only WINNER was the fresh tinted lip treatment.  I really did like this a lot and will be sad when I run out.
