Product Review: Cave Tools Grill Tongs

Cave Tools is the go-to source for all your grilling needs. I've also tried their Rib and Roast Grill Rack and Kabob Set that you can see HERE. We grill once or twice a week and even more during the summer months. So, finding high-quality and user-friendly grill tools makes grilling easier.

A couple weekends ago we tried these Grill Tongs from Cave Tools. Our first impression when I took them out of the box and showed them to my husband was that they were large and heavy. Right away, I was unsure if I was going to like them or not because of the size and weight of the tongs.

The above photo is a good picture of the size of the tongs compared to my hand and the grill ( a Weber Charcoal Grill). The Grill Tongs are really uncomfortably large for my hands and even my husband's hands. The Grill Tongs are heavy and a bit awkward to use as well. The length of the Grill Tongs does keep you farther away from the heat source though.

They work well with the end up or down and you can easily grab the meat. But again, it's awkward because the tongs are heavy. They also come with a metal wrap that locks the tongs together. This is also hard to put on and off of the tongs and it doesn't attach so you could easily lose the metal clasp, but you could also store the tongs without it too.

Yes, these are high-quality Grill Tongs and yes, they do a good job. They are easy to clean up and are dishwasher safe. But, for us, a regular pair of tongs are much easier to use and store.  Even though we have been impressed with other Cave Tool products in the past, these Grill Tongs were not a hit with my husband or me. Product Review: Cave Tools Rib and Roast Grill Rack and a Coupon Code

Cave Tools offers superior grilling tools without a superior price. All their products have been diligently designed with the customer in mind. Their tools are designed for durability, ease of use, as well as quick clean up. I previously reviewed the Cave Tools Kabob Set (see review, HERE) and even bought my husband their smoker box for Christmas. 

The Cave Tools Rib and Roast Grill Rack was designed after customers had complained about grill racks from competitors. Some of their complaints included weak welding that fell apart after a few grilling sessions, grill racks that were too far apart for ribs to sit vertically, or the rack was too big for the grill cover to close. Cave Tools listened and created a grill rack that addresses all those concerns.

Its unique design allows it to be used for ribs or flipping it over allows it to be used for roasts. I have so far, only tried it with ribs and my husband loves it.

We have a Weber charcoal grill and we had no trouble with the rack fitting on our grill or closing the lid.

The ribs cooked evenly and the rack allowed for ease of basting since the ribs were laying at an angle.

As you can see, our ribs turned out evenly cooked and they were quite delicious. Clean up was a cinch and took hardly any scrubbing at all. This product has made cooking ribs on the grill so much easier and we have used it several times since trying it out for this review. I'm anxious to try it for a roast as well yet this summer. This is another excellent product from Cave Tools and I would recommend this product as well as any of their grilling tools for the grill master in your family.

Product Review: Cave Tools Kabob Set

My husband is a great grill master.  Here in Iowa, you can still find my husband grilling in January in freezing cold weather because we love grilled food. I love Kabobs but we usually buy them premade up on sticks at the meat counter. I have never owned a Kabob set or skewers. So, I was super excited to have a reason to make our own Kabobs and with five Kabob sticks, we could each make up our own Kabob just how we liked it.

Our Kabobs included beef, chicken, onions, peppers, potatoes, and pineapple. The spacing between each skewer was perfect and they were long enough to fit an adequate amount for each person.

They have this cool "rotisserie like" feature where you can turn the skewers easily without moving the rack at all.

The rack fit on our round Weber charcoal grill with plenty of space. The only thing you must remember is that the rack and skewers are metal, so they are hot. Using tongs to turn the skewers is your best option.

Everything cooked evenly and it was absolutely delicious. My husband is not usually a fan of Kabobs because they usually don't cook everything evenly, but because the skewers are metal, I think it helps heat everything properly. The food slid right off the skewers without any sticking or difficulty. We were all thrilled with our supper and I was wishing I could eat another one!  If you are cooking for more than five people, you would want a second set or more skewers for another round. Cave Tools has stated they plan offer the ability to purchase the skewers separately soon. Clean up was also simple. The package says they are dishwasher safe, but I actually hand-washed them. Nothing stuck or left stains behind and the set looks brand new after use.
