Tell The Truth Thursday - Anniversaries

Today's Tell the Truth Thursday question is....

What was one of your most favorite wedding anniversaries or where is your dream anniversary?

My husband Pat and I have been married for 11 years and the two most memorable anniversaries I can remember are our 1st anniversary and our 5th anniversary.

On our 1st anniversary, I was 9 months pregnant and I was swollen and ready to be done being pregnant.  But I was also excited about the future and starting our family.  I couldn't wait to share in that tradition of having some wedding cake on our anniversary.  We had carefully saved the top of our wedding cake (raspberry by the way) for a whole year.  We took it out of the freezer and I thought Pat had the bottom of the container and he thought I had it.  CRASH!  The cake fell to the floor and collapsed into pieces.  I was devastated.  I thought it was a omen for our marriage.  I really, really wanted some of that cake.  But, it wasn't meant to be.  We can laugh at it now....sort of.  I still really want some of that cake!

Our 5th anniversary was spent in New York City.  Not because of our anniversary, but because my husband had a business trip out there at the same time.  So, I tagged along and we celebrated in style and had a blast.  The company found out it was our anniversary and treated us to champagne and strawberries dipped in chocolate.  YUM!  With 2 toddlers at home, it was such a treat for us to be away together in such a fabulous city!

Tell the Truth Thursday

Today's questions is...........

How does your ideal bedroom look? What kind of furniture, window treatments, knick knacks, colors, etc. would you use?

First of all, there would be no JUNK in my bedroom.  It wouldn't be the catchall for all the extra stuff that appears in our house.  Second, there would be a king size bed with LOTS and LOTS of pillows.  There would be the fluffiest of all down comforters and a handmade quilt layed across the bottom of the bed.  Maybe something like this.....



The colors would be warm and soft with lots of natural light coming in.  Of course, outside my bedroom window would be the mountains and they would face east so I could see the sun rise over the mountains each morning.

In the corner of the bedroom would be a big, soft, cozy chair to snuggle up in with a good book.  Maybe something like this.....

Right next to my cozy chair would be my bookshelf with all the books that I want to read.  Of course there would also be a soft, fluffly blanket to cuddle up in.  Oh, and maybe a Keurig coffee maker in my bedroom so I can make a fresh cup of coffee as soon as I get out of bed!

It's fun to dream, isn't it?  But, the main theme of my dream bedroom would be cozy, warm, and relaxing!

Tell the Truth Thursday - Our Wedding Day

Did you have a wonderful wedding day? Would you change anything?


Just 11 years and 7 months ago, was our wedding day.  Pat and I chose March 27 as our wedding day because it was exactly 1 year, after we met.  Our relationship was fast, we met on March 28, we were engaged on Aug 1, and married on March 27th.  It was a whirlwind year, but I have absolutely NO REGRETS!  We had a beautiful spring day for our wedding.  I loved, loved, LOVED my wedding dress.  I wish I had other occasions to wear it.  All our family was there to support us, along with plenty of friends.  We had lot of fun at our reception and I can still remember that feeling of pure happiness that day and evening. 

Frankly the only thing I would change about our wedding was the pastor that we had perform our ceremony.  Since we weren't members of a church at the time, we had trouble finding a pastor that would marry us.  We, of course, wanted to join a church, but hadn't found one yet.  So, the first pastor that agreed to marry us, we met with.  Unfortunately, his views didn't match up with ours and we didn't find out until the week before our wedding.  After the wedding, we never stepped foot in that church again.  We found another church shortly after and became members.  Of course, that pastor said he would have married us, but the woman I had spoke with on the phone that day had turned me away.  Also the church we got married in is no longer a church.  It has merged with another church in another building.  So, we will never be able to take our children and show them the church we were married in.  We can just drive by and see the building. 

But, over the whole day, I was so blissfully happy.  No part of the day was ruined.  Everything was completely wonderful, that I can't look back with regrets.  In fact, I would love to do it all over again!

Tell the Truth Thursday - Hobby

Do you have a hobby?

I have lots of hobbies, but some I no longer have much time for.  I used to cross-stitch, but no more time for that.  I tried to take up knitting, but didn't have time for that.  I have played the piano since I was a child and still enjoy sitting down and playing out my stress on the keys.  But the main hobby I have stuck with is reading.  I love to read even though I have trouble even finding time to do that.  I review books for publishers, read books for my book club, and read books for pure enjoyment.  Reading has always been a way for me to escape.  As a child I read all the time, and I have tried to carry that love of reading through to my children as well.

This is a new feature that I am doing along with several other blogs called Tell The Truth Thursday. We have to truthfully all answer the same question. Who knows? You might just learn something new about me and if you asked yourself the same question, you might just learn something about yourself.

Are you a morning, afternoon, evening or night time person? Has it changed over the years?

I have NEVER been a morning person.  I like to sleep in.  I don't like getting up early.  It takes me awhile to get going in the morning.  I LOVE laying in bed, even if I am awake, just enjoying the quiet and comfort of my bed.  Although a good cup of French Vanilla coffee can get me going in the morning.  I would have to say that I am an afternoon/evening person.  I can't stay up as late as I used to, but after the kids get home from school, I am usually pretty motivated to get stuff done, then after putting the kids in bed, I tend to have another burst of energy to get things done.  I also like the quietness of the house at night when the kids are sleeping.  So, this is when I might get some of my more quieter tasks complete.

A New Feature: Tell The Truth Thursday - Crayons

This is a new feature that I am doing along with several other blogs called Tell The Truth Thursday.  We have to truthfully all answer the same question.  Who knows? You might just learn something new about me and if you asked yourself the same question, you might just learn something about yourself.  Today's question would even make an excellent supper table discussion with your family.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Who doesn't love getting a box of new crayons?  I buy the kids new crayons sometimes because I want them, not because we need them.  I LOVE opening a box of new crayons and looking at the rainbow of colors, smelling them, and using them for the first time.  I have always loved to color.  Being the only kid at home growing up, that was something I could do by myself to pass the time.  I remember filling up many, many coloring books.  In fact, I may have to do some coloring with my daughter this weekend.  Coloring is a great way to "destress".  It makes me feel calm, it slows me down, it makes me smile, and it's fun!

So......if I were a color, I would be............................

Purple Mountain's Majesty

I remember seeing this color once and thinking how much I loved it.  Purple has always been my favorite color and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the mountains.  If my husband and I become millionaires, we are buying a second home in the Colorado Mountains.  It is my dream!  So, there is no doubt, that I would be Purple Mountain's Majesty!
