This seven-inch-square board book is perfect for toddlers to hold. The pages are sturdy and each page either has a cut-out or a 3D image of a bug. Through a rhyming verse, the story shares how much your own little bug is loved whether they are a ladybug, a bumblebee, a caterpillar, a butterfly, or a beetle. The illustrations of each bug are absolutely adorable with the big eyes and bright colors.

I loved reading these kinds of books to our children showing them in a new way just how much I loved them. Sharing how much joy and laughter they bring into your life offers security and love to your kids no matter how young they are. This early reading time with your child is so important to establishing a love a reading and their development of language. With summer coming up, parents could even take their child outside to look for these specific bugs from the story and talk about what makes each bug important in our eco-system. 

Ultimately, this is a sweet book to read to a child that shows the most important part of being a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, or babysitter...your love for them. It's too sweet of a book to pass up.

A great way to get toddlers excited about reading is to make reading books fun! These two nursery rhyme sets are the perfect start to their reading adventure. I know that I sang "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" to our kids and we had books that went along with the nursery rhyme as well. In fact, those were probably the first two nursery rhymes they learned.

These two book sets include a mini board book, a wooden vehicle (bus or tractor) and a plastic play mat. While you are reading (or singing) the rhyme to your toddler, they can drive the tractor along the road visiting the animals on the mat or drive through town with the bus.

The set comes in a carrying case with a handle. So these would be perfect for traveling. The playmat is approximately 22 x 17 inches and folds up nicely into the carrying case.

 
As you can see in the photos the vehicles and the books are perfectly sized for toddler's little hands. They can hold the book by themselves and the vehicle without any difficulty. The words of the chorus are bolded in the books to make them stand out more. Children will have fun acting out the verses in the book with their very own playset.

If you have toddlers on your gift list, then I would recommend these reading playsets for them.

Children's Book Review: Gareth Lucas Noisy Books from Silver Dolphin Books

If your toddler loves construction equipment or watching Bob the Builder (is that show still on?) then this book is just for them.

Each page features an animal driving a different type of equipment such as the dolphin driving the digger or a bear bulldozing or the camel lifting the crane. But the best part is each page-spread also has a special sound to go with that page like the Beep! Beep! of the digger backing up or the music at the end of a busy day. The book shares a busy day with the construction crew using some alliteration in the words to help your toddler focus on the sounds. The illustrations of all the animals are really adorable, with expressions that will make your child giggle. They will pick out lady bugs dancing, a pig playing a keyboard, and a camel snorkeling at the end of a long day. Each page has a different sound so when your child hits the button, you aren't hearing the same sound on every page. It actually goes along with what the characters are doing.

The book is a high-quality durable board book that is a bit over 8 inches square in size. The batteries are replaceable so this book will last through multiple children/multiple readings. This is a book I would highly recommend for gift-giving. I can't imagine a child not wanting to read this book every day!

DINOS ON DECK!

Our boys were dinosaur fans when they were young and I can't imagine any toddler, fan or not, not liking this fun dinosaur-as-pirates book. The dinosaurs are on the ship the Jurassic Jewel and are off on an adventure. Each page-spread offers a button with a different sound like a dinosaur roar, a splash of water, or the sound of digging in the sand for treasure. The story of the dinosaurs' adventure uses alliteration such as the "prehistoric pirates paddle" to help your toddler recognize letter sounds.

I found it funny that as the dinosaur is digging in the sand for the treasure he is digging up the Mona Lisa painting, a vase, and the Daily Dino newspaper. One dinosaur is even holding a tropical drink. Your toddler won't get the humor, but the parents will think it's funny. Since every page has a different sound from the button, parents and kids won't get bored reading it.

Dinosaur fans will especially love this book, but I could see all toddlers thinking this book is fun. The book is a high-quality durable board book that is a bit over 8 inches square in size. The batteries are replaceable so this book will last through multiple children/multiple readings. This is a book I would highly recommend for gift-giving. I can't imagine a child not wanting to read this book every day!

This is a much more simplified version telling Rapunzel's story of being taken from her parents and forced to live in a tower while her hair grew long. When the prince heard her singing, he came to rescue her. Through rhyming scheme, cartoon illustrations and interactive pages, toddlers and young children will find a new fairy tale to love.

The pages of this book offer a hidden mouse to find. This story is a little darker than the other fairy tales as a baby is taken by a witch and then the witch cuts Rapunzel's hair to make the prince fall. But, reminding the child that it is all make-believe will help them understand the silliness of it. With a slider at the end to bring Rapunzel and the Prince together, your child will get to be a part of  the happy ending.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Using quotes from the original story by Gabrielle-Suzanne Bardot de Villeneuve like "Beauty insisted on setting out for the fine palace.." and "My heart is good, but I am still a monster."  will thrill fans of the book and movie. 

If you like coloring flowers, birds, or victorian themes then this book is for you. The pages are a heavy cardstock, but a lot of the designs continue on both pages so you probably wouldn't want to tear them out and frame them. 

This coloring book is a way to share your love of the story with your child, coloring the pages together or as a reminder for yourself. Spend quiet evenings coloring in the detail of the flowers, or Belle's dress, or the Beast's castle. The end of the book shares the history of the story as well as the authors and illustrator. It's a treat for every fan of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
