Marci Fair and her now thirteen-year-old daughter Elle have coauthored their sixth book in the series featuring Elle's two favorite stuffed animals, Ellie the Elephant and Pudgy the Penguin. I've read and reviewed ELLIE GOES BACK TO SCHOOL, ELLIE'S BEST BEACH VACATION EVER, and ELLIE'S FUN DAY AT THE FARM and thought they were such great books for kids. This time, Ellie and Pudgy explore the great outdoors through a camping trip together. Through hiking, building a campfire, and experiencing the beauty of nature Ellie and Pudgy teach kids the importance of appreciating their environment.

Like the other books in the series, real photographs show Ellie and Pudgy visiting various locations and taking part in activities while being silly and showing kids that it can be fun to explore along with being safe. The pages don't just share the story but ask for interaction from the kids such as looking for the butterfly that paid Ellie and Pudgy a visit or finding the constellations in the sky. There are puzzles at the end of the book and a parent guide for talking about the importance of taking care of our planet and what we can do to make a difference.

I have read this series of books to kids and they love that stuffed animals are telling the story and have mentioned that they want to take their stuffed animals on adventures like this. These stories are a great way to encourage imagination while teaching a particular lesson. Plus, I love that a child is involved in the creation of these stories for children. Elle Fair has a bright future!

The newest addition to Ellie and Pudgy's adventures takes them to the farm. I have previously shared their adventures to the beach and to school. Ellie the stuffed elephant and Pudgy the stuffed penguin go on adventures. Along the way, they learn something about the place they are visiting and of course, have lots of fun.

Ellie and Pudgy immerse themselves on the farm after a picnic made them wonder where their food came from. On the farm, they get to ride on a tractor, see rabbits, sheep, chicken, goats, pigs, and horses. They also visit the garden where many vegetables are grown and stop by to smell some flowers. Just being curious, allowed these two friends to have an adventurous day on the farm, seeing things they had never seen before.

There are also activities included throughout the pages of the book including dot-to-dots, a crossword puzzle, and a find-the-difference game. Joining Pudgy and Ellie on this adventure to the farm will teach your child about all the fun things that happen on a farm. Eating a delicious snack of foods from the farm was the perfect way to end their day.

Actual photos around the farm with Ellie and Pudgy feeding animals or riding the swings make the story fun for younger children and may just make them want to take their favorite stuffed animals on an adventure. If they do, be sure to share your pictures on their Facebook Page.

Ellie is a much-loved stuffed elephant and her new friend Pudgy, the penguin joins her on all sorts of new adventures. This time, they are going to the beach for the first time. When Ellie and Pudgy walk down the boardwalk and see the white sand and blue-green water, it reminded me of my first time seeing a similar view. Ellie and Pudgy have a great time on their beach vacation riding bikes. building sandcastles, visiting bookstores, and even taking naps. They made the most of their vacation, enjoying everything the town had to offer and spending time together. That's the best part of any vacation...all that uninterrupted time with each other!

Throughout the story, there are real photographs of Ellie and Pudgy experiencing every part of their adventure. The photos are adorable and make you feel like you are right there with them!

I really love this adorable series and will be adding this to my "bag of tricks" for when I sub at the elementary. I know kids will love this story too. A portion of the sale of every book goes toward helping children in need.

With school starting in our area this week, I felt it was the perfect week to share with you this adorable story about two friends on the first day back to school.

Ellie the elephant and her best friend, Pudgy the penguin, are starting back to school. They are both a little nervous, but Ellie especially because she is attending a new school. Ellie and Pudgy are actual stuffed animals that are photographed going through their first day of school.  The authors have thought of everything from library time to gym time to class pets, lunch, and recess. This is likely because one of the authors is an eleven-year-old girl. Nothing in the school day was left out and their feelings about being nervous and scared are spot on. Children will find their days are much like Pudgy and Ellie's.  Readers will delight in seeing Ellie and Pudgy in actual classroom and school settings. They will find the photos silly as well as reassuring.

Ellie and Pudgy model good behavior, sharing and introducing themselves to new friends. They also show how to be there for a friend and how to encourage one another. While at recess we Ellie and Pudgy find a friend sitting along on the Buddy Bench. These benches are decorated in fun sayings and bright colors and are placed in playgrounds to encourage friendship and send the message that bullying is not allowed here.

This is a book I'll be keeping in my school bag to read to the elementary students when I am subbing. It has adorable photographs, a cute story and shares a valuable lesson about friendship. I also want to check out Ellie's other adventures, ELLIE MAKES A NEW FRIEND, and ELLIE'S FIRST PLANE RIDE.
